Aqualyx® Fat Dissolving
Aqualyx is a safe, effective fat dissolving injection treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area. It produces long lasting results, which means you can banish those annoyingly wobbly bits.
Aqualyx is a non-surgical fat dissolving injection treatment. The procedure uses a solution of deoxycholic acid to safely and effectively eliminate small, stubborn pockets of fat which resist diet and exercise. A similar ingredient is found in products available in the USA such as Kybella and Belkyra.
Aqualyx is an injectable solution which liquefies fat cells, destroying them for good. The lipids are then released and eliminated naturally by the lymphatic system. Quick, convenient and minimally invasive, Aqualyx should always be administered by a trained doctor or surgeon. We have over five years’ experience of successfully administering it for non-surgical fat reduction, particularly in the face and neck.
As multiple injections are necessary to treat larger areas, it is generally recommended for small, hard-to-treat areas, such as double chins or fatty deposits above the knees or ankles. It can be safely used in almost any area.
There is some discomfort with this treatment but at AM AESTHETICS we use numbing cream and local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort. A small proportion of patients report numbness in small, coin-sized pockets for a few weeks after treatment. Some patients feel a warm sensation in the treated area and may experience bruising, swelling and soreness. Small numbers report itching, redness and a burning sensation. All patients must be aware that there will be 6 to 9 days of swelling and social downtime.
A reduction in fat can usually be seen after just one treatment – but at AM AESTHETICS, should more than two treatments be required, we’ll recommend something else. Ultimately, the number of Aqualyx treatments needed varies depending on the size of area being treated and the volume of fat.
Most patients see their full results in 8-9 weeks. The speed at which your full results become apparent varies depending on the stability of your cell membranes, with younger patients more likely to see continued results over time. Regular massages advised by your practitioner will help the process.
If you are a healthy weight with a small amount of fat you wish to remove, are between 18-60 years old and you are not pregnant or lactating, then Aqualyx could be right for you. It’s important to note that while Aqualyx does have skin tightening properties, a small number of patients with excessive laxity may not be suitable for the treatment.
