To minimise swelling and discomfort after your lip treatment, follow these simple steps: by Alexandra Haq

*Ice, Ice Baby (But Carefully!)*

Apply ice to the treated area to constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling. To protect your skin from direct contact with the ice (which could cause ice burn), pop the ice cubes into a sealed plastic bag first. Then, wrap the bag in a soft tea towel for extra insulation and a more comfortable application. This method allows for effective cooling while preventing your lips from getting uncomfortably wet.

*Hydration is Key:*

Keep sipping on water throughout the day. Staying well-hydrated is crucial for your body’s natural healing process. Sufficient hydration helps your body efficiently circulate fluids, preventing them from pooling in specific areas (which causes swelling). Think of it like this: a well-watered garden flourishes, while a parched one withers. Keep those fluids flowing!

*Take it Easy:*

Avoid strenuous exercise and anything that significantly elevates your heart rate for the next 48 hours. Increased blood flow can exacerbate swelling, hindering the healing process. Gentle walks are fine, but skip the high-intensity workouts for now.

*Lip TLC (Tender Loving Care):*

Treat your lips like royalty! They need rest and protection to recover. That means no aggressive rubbing, and absolutely no hard kissing for at least 48 hours – sorry! Give them time to heal undisturbed.

*Straws are a No-Go:*

Avoid using straws for the next two days. The suction required to drink through a straw can put unnecessary pressure on your lips, potentially worsening swelling and delaying healing. Sip gently from a glass instead.

By following these guidelines, you’ll help minimise discomfort and ensure your lips heal beautifully. If you experience any unexpected pain or excessive swelling, please contact the clinic
